Re: [Salon] Fwd: in case you're wondering where your income tax money really goes

These calculations do not include entitlements which are just another form of appropriations and which Congress fiddles with every year, almost like the discretionary accounts shown in the incomplete pie chart.  See https://www.usgovernmentspending.com/us_fed_spending_pie_chart.  Note that "Defense," not just DOD, is counted at $1.2 trillion which is almost right, but low for 2022.  Only counting discretionary is a usual left of center gimmick to make defense look even bigger.  No, "entitlements" are not something special to be uncounted; nor are they sanctified or untouchable.  They need to be counted.  Accurately counting the money does not let DOD off the hook; Jabba the Hut is just as fat in a small or large crowd.

I shared this chart with COL Larry Wilkerson, who responded thusly, and gave me permission to share this:

"I know the chart is bullshit when I see "other military" as $220B.  The VA alone is $242B in FY21.   The chart is a joke.  National Security spending -- in the old Cold War/anti-terror sense -- is topping 60% of Fed expenditures in FY 21."

I thought it was the USPS which took such a large part of the pie, explaining the zealousness of libertarians/ Republican’s to privatize it, and kick a lot of people off mail delivery?
