India to Overtake China’s Population Size
a) According
to the United Nations (UN) projections published on July 12, the world’s
population could surpass 8 billion in November.
b) The Pew Research Center
explains that China currently has the world’s largest population at
1.426 billion, but India, which currently has a population of 1.417
billion, is projected to overtake China in 2023.
c) More than half of all people in the world live in only seven
countries: China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Pakistan,
Nigeria, and Brazil. However, the latter five countries have fewer
people combined than India or China.
d) China’s population is equivalent to all the people in Africa and greater than all the people in Europe or the Americas.
e) The UN anticipates that the global population will reach 9.7 billion in 2050 and 10.4 billion in 2100.
