. says it's "unexpected" to find Chris DeMuth leading the conference, which it previously called "malignant" and "a direct threat to the American republic." Their confusion only shows they don't have any idea what's been happening in Washington over the last year.
In September 2018, DeMuth, the legendary former head of AEI, privately circulated a 6,000-word essay on my book "The Virtue of Nationalism" in which he defended nationalism. The title was "Mending Walls." You can read it here: yoramhazony.org/tvn/wp-content
DeMuth sees conservative nationalism taking shape in books like 's Why Liberalism Failed, 's Once and Future Worker, Yuval Levin's The Fractured Republic, 's Ship of Fools, 's Republican Workers Party, and my Virtue of Nationalism.
Given his views there's nothing more expected than to find DeMuth among the leadership of the Edmund Burke Foundation's first National Conservatism Conference where he's speaking alongside , , Yuval Levin, , , myself and many others.
You can read DeMuth's full essay on the rise of American conservative nationalism here: claremont.org/crb/article/tr . He also published versions of these essays in the Wall St. Journal and the Jewish Review of Books.
The National Conservatism Conference is being led by DeMuth, , , Josh Mitchell, David Brog and myself. Our collobaration and friendship is uncomfortable for people like and who'd prefer that we be globalists or neocons.
