Re: [Salon] Defense Secretary Austin’s visit to Israel reveals divisions on Iran

BLUF:

The accusation against Neoconservatives is that they got us into wars at Israel’s bidding, unlike the Noble Traditional Conservatives who only took us to war when our (loosely defined) interests were at stake, or when Murdoch media interests are claimed to be at stake, as can be seen especially in Tucker Carlson’s incessant braying for war against China. As the “traditional conservatives” Trump and DeSantis bray for as well (JFGI).

But no one comes close to the “Traditionals” when it comes to loyalty to Israel’s “fascist’s,” their Radical Right. The Settler/National Conservatives of the beloved, by the “Traditional Conservatives” on this listserve, Yoram Hazony. With that “Right,” fully integrated/interconnected to our own “Right,” the one I’m, and we, are always assured “stands athwart the Neocons, saying stop,” to paraphrase Buckley. Haha-what a ******* laugh! The so-called Neocons can’t keep up with the “Traditional Conservatives” of the New Right in inciting/provoking wars, notwithstanding it was on Biden’s watch carrying on Trump’s provocations that the Russians said enough is enough.

And DeSantis is Ex. A for this, even if a Traditional Conservative on this list cites his campaign’s biographical book as “evidence” that he is for a “realist” (another very flexible term, especially as used by the New Right) foreign policy.

But I don’t look to campaign literature for an understanding of politicians. I look to the legislative acts they’ve proposed/supported, and to tie that together with what they say to their highest priority constituencies.

So going by that, all those who want an increased likelihood of war with Iran already know that comes with Trump as he’s already delivered once, though keeping it to a”Low-Intensity War” in concert with his closest ally, Netanyahu.

But there should be no doubt who will take that even further, because he will tell you he will, and that is the favorite of the New Right “intelligencia,” DeSantis, as he’s made clear, as here:

According to the 2024 presidential hopeful, the West Bank "is not occupied territory, it is disputed territory," he claimed. "I don't care what the State Department says."
(Emphasis in original.)

“3Ron DeSantis showcases pro-Israel portfolio

DeSantis added to his pro-Israel credentials by stating he was "the first statewide elected official to do public events in Judea and Samaria...because we understand history, we know those are thousands of years of connection to the Jewish people."

“Flordia's Republican governor was always a "big advocate" of the US embassy move from Tel Aviv to the Israeli capital of Jerusalem, DeSantis further said. "You gotta know the history...which is why I was a big advocate as a Congressman to move the embassy.”

But here he is, speaking for himself, and the Traditional Conservatives of the New Right who so adore him. Just try to show me a “Neocon” who even comes close to this Zionist fanaticism!
