My last word for a while, but I have to say, to avoid complicity in the even greater US war crimes than seen heretofore: Congratulations are in order for Republicans here for the new Speaker of the House, Rep. Mike Johnson! I would like to say it could be worse, but I can’t, if one would like to see a ceasefire in the Mideast and a tamping down, instead of escalation, of hostilities with Iran. How refreshing it would be if those very few “right-leaning,” actual, war opponents, would look to their "right,” beyond the Neocons there, and recognize there’s something even worse waiting to take total power. Like “right-leaning” Germans refused to do before 1933. Which is not a word in defense of any of our war fanatics. So forgive me for one more post today. But as I’m about the only one here who criticizes the Trumpites, as Johnson is, not for “Isolationism,” as their “liberal” opponents do, but for their hyper-militarism, exceeding by far even that of their ostensible “other” opponents, the “pacifistic” (in comparison, though not by much) Neocons. And I don’t try to return Trump to power by a “stealth campaign by omission,” by only criticizing Biden, but not Trump and the Republicans for ‘their” wars. With Johnson, and his fellow ideologues like Jim Jordan, Chip Roy, Warren Davison, Matt Gaetz, DeSantis, and Trump himself, and all the little Trumpites, all celebrated by “Realism and Restraint” New Rightists as essential to that campaign. And all tearing Biden apart with denunciations for urging Israel to hold off a teensy, tiny bit, on the "ground war,” and for asking that at least a tiny bit of aid be allowed into Gaza, against the Republican's and Netanyahu’s (I repeat myself) wishes and demands. So, I don’t know why but this speech by Stefanik in support of Johnson: https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/watch/stefanik-nominates-rep-mike-johnson-for-house-speaker-196380229820 brought to my mind another speech to Congress, from 2015, as here: BLUF: "Row upon row of men in suits (and the occasional woman), jumping up and down, up and down, applauding wildly, shouting approval. "It was the shouting that did it. Where had I heard that before?
"And then it came back to me. It was another parliament in the mid-1930s. The Leader was speaking. Rows upon rows of Reichstag members were listening raptly. Every few minutes they jumped up and shouted their approval (TP-also led by Republicans). "Of course, the Congress of the United States of America is no Reichstag. Members wear dark suits, not brown shirts. They do not shout "Heil" but something unintelligible. Yet the sound of the shouting had the same effect. Rather shocking.” No doubt the reminder of the one by the other, of the two speeches, was because of who Stefanik was speaking in support of, new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, who would probably take pride in being called Netanyahu’s “proxy,” or “stand-in," as he made pretty clear here: https://www.israelhayom.com/2020/02/19/president-trump-has-been-the-best-friend-israel-can-ever-have/ "Johnson also praised the Trump plan and said that he was "grateful that President Trump has taken his leadership, and has been very assertive" about letting Israel extend its sovereignty to the areas that have been designated as part of Israel under the plan. "From my perspective, it has been long overdue, and I think that the sooner that sovereignty can be recognized the better. Many of us conservatives have reservations about the two-state solution because as a Bible-believing Christian I don't see a place for that, so we are in solidarity with a lot of the Israeli people, understanding that this is the homeland," Johnson said." (TP-giving new meaning to “Homeland Security”) And, https://mikejohnson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=550 For an indication for where Speaker Johnson will try and move the Congress, and the country, toward, I think this can stand as the “best evidence” for that: If “going all-in for Israel” might make Biden complicit in genocide, as Chas shared a few days ago with this article, then how much more complicit are the “inciters” against Biden for being insufficiently “all-in” for Israeli genocide? Like the “Right-wing Peaceniks” are? To a man, or woman, like Stefanik, et al. https://theintercept.com/2023/10/19/israel-gaza-biden-genocide-war-crimes “Going All-In for Israel May Make Biden Complicit in Genocide” Begin at 5:00 for war incitement against Iran. All that’s left to do now for the Right-wing Peaceniks to really unleash the US military against China, Iran, and necessarily Russia, and to totally un-constrain Israel to deal with the Muslims in its neighborhood, is for Trump to at least get reasonably close to”winning” the election, so that it can be turned over to the House to decide. Then, the Heritage Foundation’s Plan for War in Project 2025 can really be kicked off, with bodies flying at least in Iran, if not China and Russia, as Johnson presided over the Plan for. |
