Starvation used as 'weapon of war' by Israel: Oxfam
Human rights groups are sounding the alarm about the collective punishment of Palestinians
UK-based NGO and charity organization Oxfam warned on 26 October that the Israeli government is using starvation as a "weapon of war" during its ethnic cleansing campaign in the Gaza Strip.
The humanitarian entity called on Tel Aviv to facilitate foreign aid into the besieged enclave, given that the Israeli government has already cut off electricity, medical supplies, food, and water from entering the Gaza Strip, as "collective punishment."
Oxfam emphasized that the cutting off of aid into Gaza has drastically exacerbated the situation for residents of the enclave, as the Israeli military continues its "complete siege" and non-stop bombing of the area, which has already resulted in the deaths of over 6,600 Palestinian civilians, including 2,704 children.
Oxfam released a statement on 25 October, which revealed that only "two percent of the food that would have been delivered has entered Gaza since the total siege."
The NGO determined that 104 aid trucks are required to enter the enclave daily to alleviate the war's impact on the residents of Gaza. The UN has also pleaded with Israel to be lenient towards allowing aid deliveries to enter Gaza.
