, confirms that many highly-publicised atrocities alleged to have been committed by Hamas on October 7 — decapitated babies, children placed in ovens, etc. — were fabricated. Now, the question isn’t whether Hamas committed other atrocities that day — of course it did — but why the Israeli authorities felt the need to fabricate such outrageously, cartoonishly evil stories on top of what actually happened. Sadly, I think we all know the answer: because that was the only way to drum up support for the massacre they were about to embark on, as even Libération writes.
