Dear Friends,I had to share this with you. Endorsed by a US Ambassador and blocked by Facebook on the same day is pretty wild. My article 27 years in captivity. Free Palestine’s Mandela was picked up by a couple of influential people. Retired US Ambassador Chas Freeman saw it in a newsletter sent by John V Whitbeck, a Paris-based lawyer who has worked with the Palestinian side for decades. Freeman immediately re-posted it to his, no doubt, impressive database. We had a very nice email exchange the same day. Ambassador Freeman was US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. He is a lifetime director of the Atlantic Council and was Obama’s chair of the National Intelligence Committee. To promote Solidarity, I decided to boost the article on facebook. It ran, was blocked, I appealed, they unblocked - and then today they blocked it again without explanation. Yesterday I got an email from Delinda Hanley, editor of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs who said she loved the article and would like to run it. Please read the article itself - and drop me a note to tell me what you make of it. If you would like to support the work I’m doing - please share the content. The media environment is very tough for people who are challenging the dominant narrative. Your help will make a difference. Best wishes to all Eugene Doyle |
