[Salon] Israel-linked CIA-funded Palantir goes public, making espionage mainstream

Title: Israel-linked CIA-funded Palantir goes public, making espionage mainstream
Some of Charles Koch’s i360 handiwork in MN, and if you think this is just about quelling “rioting,” you are hopelessly naive and ignorant, and/or supportive of what Koch’s and Peter Thiel’s (both of whom are so popular here) companies are doing on behalf of Israel’s genocide, and on behalf of their fascists. As Trumpites are readily understood to be, in particular!

As Noam Chomsky was quoted in the email I just sent: "But the phenomenon goes way back. And it has roots. It’s kind of like jihadis: You have to ask about the roots,” which Hannah Arendt called “Origins, as in “The Origins of Totalitarianism.”  Or my own echo of her, laid out here in my emails: The Origins of American Fascism,” Palantir, in the article below, has “roots.” Which must be known to understand how truly “Fascistic” they, their founders, and officers, are. With the same applying to Charles Koch, can be seen below.

This article was shared here yesterday, and it's necessary reading to begin to understand the “Origins of American Fascism,” as it progressed to today. And the role the “Great Antiwar Libertarian” Charles Koch plays in that. Stating that knowing I lost what I thought was a friend a few months ago, when he was so vitriolic over the phone with me for my criticisms of the anti-BDS, US/Israeli MIC Oligarch Charles Koch, that it wasn’t hard to imagine the “spittle” coming through my cell phone speaker with his fulminations against me!
BLUF: “Quietly, and without any corporate press release on such an unusual acquisition, Koch Industries has purchased i360, a vast voter database and data harvesting operation. According to i360’s website, it has ‘1800 unique data points’ on 290 million American consumers as well as detailed information on 199 million voters from all 50 states. It brags that its data ‘shows you everything you need to know including the demographic and psychographic breakdown of your target market.’

“The propriety of a multinational industrial conglomerate with an anti-regulatory agenda having a stranglehold on a highly sophisticated voter data mining platform with unlimited funds to hire Ph.Ds., statisticians and computer scientists trained in artificial intelligence and machine learning, has yet to enter the national discourse.”

. . .

"Freedom Partners had a very large footprint in the Donald Trump administration.  In a document titled “Roadmap to Repeal: Removing Regulatory Barriers to Opportunity,” the Koch front group listed the laws and regulations it expected to be repealed in the first 100 days of Trump’s tenure as President. The Trump administration dutifully followed the prescribed agenda, repealing the Paris Climate Accord to the horror of our allies; passing tax cuts for the wealthy; and gutting federal regulations and the Environmental Protection Agency."

So why should we care what measures Charles Koch and his i360 company take to gut federal regulations, when so many here favor that, but profess to “oppose our wars?”

I have to assume that the i360 system referred to here as part of Elbit System is one and the same system which Koch Industries owns, and licenses, unless proven otherwise. And that places Charles Koch/Koch Industries right in the center of Israeli/US “intelligence/information warfare!” As I had long ago deduced, and shared here, and got derided/denounced for my troubles. WhereTF are all you brilliant former Intell Officers in taking note of a massive “Cognitive Warfare Operation,” waged against the US? Not to be seen or heard, I’m sorry to say. Which explains a lot about our many intelligence failures, perhaps, when we refuse to “know ourselves," as Sun Tzu counseled was necessary before anything else when waging war. To weed out those counseling self-destructive advice to begin with, if for no other reason!

And what about all those “Never Trump” Democrats and Republicans who regularly denounced Trump as Putin’s Puppet, and “Russian Election Interference,” all the while Israel and Israel’s “Fascist Puppets,” meaning Trump and his fascist friends, massively surveilled the US populace for the purpose of “election interference,” and worse, suppression of free speech, in the Willmoore Kendall tradition.

As that is handed down as ideology from Trump’s ideological precursors, as they’re claimed to be by people here, as in this quote: "A respected liberal, Jacob Heilbrunn, has written a lengthy review of the book for National Interest, entitled “How Willmoore Kendall Invented Trumpism.” Actually, Mr. Heilbrunn’s “review” is more of a carefully calculated attack on Kendall than a review of the book itself. Still, it reflects the Left’s fear that Kendall’s political thought could be rediscovered by a new generation of young American conservatives and applied to our present crisis (like Kendall’s ideas once influenced young conservatives like William F. Buckley, Jr. and Brent Bozell, Jr.). (TP-it has been, as we see in anti-ICC and anti-BDS legislation, as well as by criminalizing Whistleblowers, etc.)

I’ve made what was characterized, very negatively, as a “tendentious discussion” for years now, in opposition to "Kendallianist speech suppression/censorship.” And today, we have that form of Kendallianism taken to the higher levels of hasbara! Through the likes of Charles Koch and Peter Thiel and their massive surveillance/election interference capabilities! And now, we’re getting Kendallianism in spades! Mostly by the Republicans, but also from Goldwater Democrats making up the vast majority of that party now, in their assault upon the ICC, BDS, Ilan Pappe, etc.

So here’s what our Israeli/US Kendallian Coalition is up to, notwithstanding no “tendentious discussion” allowed.

Renowned for its innovative solutions, Elbit Systems delivers unique capabilities to governments, military forces and critical infrastructure entities

If this appeals to you, or you know of young people indoctrinated into Kendallianism who would love to be part of repression, here are career opportunities available.

This will sell any young authoritarians on the benefits of working for Koch/i360!

This will make any young “Conservative/Libertarian proud to work for i360!
BLUF: "Michael Palmer founded i360 after working as chief technology officer for Senator John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, Politico reported.2

"The group was founded in 2009 “to fill the innovation gap between campaigns and organizations that promote free market candidates and causes and their opponents.” i360 developed what it describes as a “closed-loop suite of grassroots technology” to help political and commercial customers target “target and segment their customers with predictive modeling,” and use customer data to build targeted online and TV advertising campaigns.3

"Politico described i360 as “the Koch data mine,” reporting in 2014 that the Koch brothers and allied groups including Freedom Partners were investing tens of millions of dollars in i360."

Another option for the young Kendallian authoritarian fascist Zionist is Palantir, as can be seen here:

Israel-linked CIA-funded Palantir goes public, making espionage mainstream

The firm is closely linked to the CIA and Israel, while standing accused of multiple counts of human rights violations.

Artists's rendition of recognition software analysing people and cars to create data.

Nearly two decades after the company was founded using a CIA investment, Palantir Technologies went public in a major stock market offering.

But in spite of the IPO, the company direction was already bought at birth by the CIA’s venture capital firm In-Q-Tel, which invests in companies that enhance its reach, power and capacity for espionage. While In-Q-Tel claims to be independent from the CIA, it only invests with CIA approval.

For Peter Thiel, with an estimated net worth of about $22 billion, it’s been a profitable arrangement.

For the CIA, data mining, computing and surveillance are the keys to the future, and that’s where Palantir comes in.

The Myth

Palantir first became notorious for stories that circulated alleging that the software it designed was responsible for finding Osama bin Laden. Newspapers picked up the story from former Navy Seal Mark Bowden’s book, detailing his role in hunting down and killing Osama bin Laden.

He credited them with perfecting a Pentagon data mining and analysis program started by retired US Rear Admiral John Pointdexter, once found guilty for his role in the Iran-Contra affair.

Pointdexter led a program called ‘Total Information Awareness’, which would serve as the prototype for sweeping surveillance programs later developed by the NSA, and exposed by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The company has cheekily reshared the news on its own website, flirting with mystery. Peter Thiel’s co-founder Alex Carp, didn’t dismiss the allegations.

“That’s one of those stories we’re not allowed to comment about,” he said in an interview.

But what does Palantir do?

Its sales pitch gives a lot away. It’s named after a crystal ball in Lord of the Rings, which allows one to see all and know all, in the present and future.

In the wake of 9/11, Palantir positioned itself as a pro-military technology company working towards utopia.

How did they do it?

They engineered a software that collects and churns through huge amounts of data, from fingerprints, phone records, tips, known connections, satellite imagery, bank records, and social media connections, before hitting gold.

The end result? Allowing its users to spot hidden relationships and networks,  uncover terrorist activity, and even predict attacks. (TP-spotting “hidden relationships  and networks?” Try doing that here, in a Network Analysis of US and Israeli fascism, they they self-describe as “Conservatism,” and be ready for the derision to come your way by either ignoramuses, too “stupid” in the Latinate sense, or more likely here, by those duplicitous “Conservatives” concealing the underlying “interests” they serve, of Israeli and US/UK Military Industrial Complex Oligarchs, of either National Conservative Peter Thiel, or Libertarian Charles Koch, both of whom head companies that are leaders in this field!)

But this is nothing new. What Palantir brings is a slick and smooth interface that’s easy to use, requiring no external maintenance or management.

In a nutshell, Palantir solved one of intelligence’s oldest problems: you can collect all the information in the world, but you’ll still need a lot of human help to make sense of it.

For the first time, that equation’s been reversed, and the easily installed program helps its user.

Going mainstream

While there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with that, Palantir toes the edge of a very fine line: providing governments with the capacity to track terrorists, dissidents and undesirables with ease, while also selling its services and espionage capabilities to the highest bidder.

Merck pharmaceuticals is one of their clients, and is credited with speeding up drug discoveries. United Airlines uses them to plan more cost effective flight routes.

But its software could also be used for more nefarious purposes, to surveil minorities, track immigrants, and more controversially to support Israel’s military-technology complex.

Murky reputation

The company has been implicated in a number of data scandals, most prominent being its alleged involvement in the Cambridge Analytica breach, which played a role in influencing US elections and the Brexit vote

In the breach, Cambridge Analytica mined the data of millions of social media users, applying cutting-edge psychological analysis methods to determine the best way to influence voters for their client’s ends.

Palantir is also under fire from human rights organisations given its extensive contracts with the US Department of Homeland Security, and US Immigration for providing them with software to help them find, arrest and deport immigrants perceived to have entered the country illegally.

While many are deeply sceptical of the combination of profit-oriented business and surveillance, it was first put on display in a proposal by a Palantir employee to Washington, proposing methods to crack the inner workings of WikiLeaks. Included in his proposal were suggestions for disinformation and cyberattacks.

Palantir was also responsible for suggesting creating misinformation surrounding journalists, including Pulitzer Prize Winner Glenn Greenwald, for his articles in support of Wikileaks.

Israeli connection

Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel gets around. He’s also an investor in Carbyne, co-owned by the late alleged paedophile billionaire, Jeffery Epstein, and members of the Israeli political and intelligence establishment.

Deeply similar to Palantir, Carbyne isn’t a normal technology company either. It’s deeply connected to Israeli intelligence division Unit 8200, whose members often go into business but maintain deep ties to the Israeli espionage community.

Unit 8200 is known for spying on Palestinian civilians for “coercion purposes”, and spying on Palestinian-Americans through an intelligence-sharing agreement with the NSA.

Israeli media reports and former employees describe how often they “blur the line” between profit and service to intelligence goals.

Both companies offer pre-shooting predictive analysis, with the common link being a shared co-owner: Peter Thiel. Carbyne’s board of advisors feature former Palantir employee Trae Stephens, amid other notables such as former US Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

In a dystopian twist, Human Rights Watch took apart an application used by Chinese authorities to surveil every digital action and physical movement taken by Uyghurs, finding it nearly identical to a NG911, a similar program produced by Carbyne and used in the US, albeit constrained by legal limitations.

Carbyne’s first surveillance contract was installed in the US in 2018, at the same time, China’s nearly identical mass surveillance was launched.

The same technology combined with Carbyne’s predictive “pre-crime” software is widely used by Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence services to track Palestinian comments on social media, and find someone guilty of a crime before it even happens. (TP-see attached file, of a book allegedly written by a former Commander of Unit 8200, explaining how what Charles Koch and Peter Thiel do for Israel and the US, is in fact: War!

That technology was pioneered by Palantir, who sold the Trump administration “pre-crime” technology, already widely used by police departments throughout the US.

Ties between Palantir and Carbyne were cemented when it opened a research and development centre in Israel in 2013. Hamutal Meridor, Palantir Israel’s current head, served as senior director of Verint, with deep ties to Unit 8200. Verint was previously implicated in being one of two companies hired by the NSA to put a backdoor into US telecommunication systems and popular applications, ensuring it’s immediate access.

Orwellian future

While some of the features provided by Palantir, and its close Israeli cousin Carbyne are readily justified in the name of short-term measures and ensuring security, there is precedent for emergency measures to quickly become part of an ever expanding corporate-intelligence industrial complex.

This took place in the US after 9/11, with emergency surveillance measures quickly becoming the norm, and even passing into law through the Patriot act. In Israel, there are less qualms about this, where the state and technology companies actively work together, without regard to the dystopian state they give rise to.

Dangerously enough, companies like Palantir are increasingly changing the idea that their unchecked role is no longer about profit, but for the public good.

With few limitations on the ‘solutions’ they derive, state-backed companies like Palantir are redefining the new normal as they go mainstream, eroding privacy wholescale on a level never seen before.
