Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya made a striking comment on Monday, regarding the deepening divide between Russia, China, and the DPRK on the one hand, and European countries and the West on the other.
He remarked, "Europeans, you call them allies, I will call them minions," criticizing these nations for failing to acknowledge the rise of new power centers and striving to preserve the dominance they have wielded for the past five centuries.
Saying that many countries want to become more prominent in world politics, Nebenzya said this would be reflected in reforming the Security Council.
At the beginning of the UN news conference, Nebenzya stated that the situation in Palestine "will remain in the spotlight" during their term presidency. He also announced that there would be three "signature events" to be chaired by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The first event is a ministerial-level debate on maintaining international peace and security. The second is a high-level session on cooperation between the UN and regional organizations. The third event is an open debate focusing on the Middle East.
Russia vowed to destroy weapons that are being sent to Ukraine amid reports of the US planning to transfer Patriot air defense systems from "Israel" to Ukraine.
When asked about reports of the US administration's talks with "Israel" and Ukraine regarding the transfer of aging Patriots to Ukraine, Nebenzya responded, "We are discouraging all countries that have not yet done so from providing arms to Ukraine."
During a news conference after Russia took over the one-month presidency of the Security Council, he said, "The destiny of the weapons that will be eventually exported to Ukraine from wherever is clear. They will be destroyed as the other weapons that the West and the US are supplying Ukraine with."
When asked about Trump's recent remarks that he could end the Ukraine war in a day if re-elected, Nebenzya stated that they had heard these claims before. "The Ukrainian crisis cannot be resolved in one day," he said.
Noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin had presented a solution on June 14, Nebenzya mentioned that Putin said the situation on the ground had changed and that this should be taken into account.
On June 14, Putin called on Ukraine to withdraw its troops from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, recognize Russia's territorial gains made during the special military operation launched in February 2022, and confirm its neutral status. He also demanded the removal of all anti-Russian sanctions by the West.
