Joe isn’t planning to go because he thinks God has chosen him for destiny. Recall that Joe was plagued by stuttering as a kid and young man and that he fought valiantly to overcome this great handicap. Recall that he was a mediocre high school, college, and law school student whose grades and performance did not at all seem to support the obviously soaring ambitions often voiced and manifested by him. Now, recall how Joe got to the Senate in the first place. Delaware was a solid Republican state and no Democratic candidate even stood up to challenge Republican Caleb Boggs in 1972. Except Joe did. A 29 year old kid who would have to have a birthday (which he would have) before being sworn in as a Senator if he by some miracle happened to win. Well, that is exactly what happened. Joe pulled a huge upset, had a birthday to become 30 before January 1973 and joined the U.S. Senate. Now, if you were a devout Catholic with faith that God had big things in store for you despite your handicaps, would all this seem a bit miraculous to you? YESSSS. Of course it would. And so it did to Joe. And Joe then came along to beat Donald Trump after the formidable Hillary Clinton had failed miserably. Joe believed and believes that God is on his side. We must all pray that God will send him a message soon. |
