Far-right Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir extended the ban on visits to prisoners in occupation prisons for another month.

Israel’s Maariv reported on Friday that Ben-Gvir: “Signed an order last night extending the ban on all visits to detainees for another month. Since the beginning of the war, prisoners have not been allowed visits by family at all.”

The newspaper noted that the decision to ban visits to Palestinian prisoners is part of the policy to tighten restrictions on them inside prisons.

Ben-Gvir had previously ordered tightening restrictions on Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October, 2023, Palestinian and international human rights organisations have spoken about the deterioration of conditions in the occupation’s prisons, especially in the notorious Sde Teiman.

Since 7 October, the occupation army has arrested nearly 10,000 Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, as well as health and civil defence workers.
