The Tel Aviv administration proposed to hand over to Ukraine Russian-made weapons captured by the Israeli army in Lebanon or received from enemies in other regions.
In the official statement made by the Embassy of Ukraine in Tel Aviv on Facebook, "On January 21, a meeting took place between Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Kornichuchuk, and Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel. At the meeting, the ambassador thanked the offer to give the Russian-made weapons seized by the Israeli army to Ukraine," he said.
The Ukrainian side stated that this attempt by Israel was a serious step that confirmed that it was aware of the common threats facing Kiev and Tel Aviv.
The Embassy expressed that they hope that this proposal will have a positive outcome.
The meeting also claimed that the military cooperation between Iran and Russia threatened the national security of both Ukraine and Israel.
The Ukrainian Ambassador said that "effectively countering this threat will serve the interests of both states".
In addition, the parties discussed the perspectives of increasing high-level bilateral contacts and deepening cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and consular fields.
In the fall of 2024, Israeli ground forces discovered an underground base belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
This facility was used as the command center of the Rıdvan Union and served as an area where various types of weapons were stored. Among the weapons discovered were missiles, mortar shells, Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, bulletproof vests and other equipment.
In December, Israel's Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky stated that in recent years, the interactions between the two countries have become closer and mutual understanding has strengthened.
Brodsky, while emphasizing that the wars between Israel and Ukraine are linked, stated that Israel is fighting against terrorism, while Ukraine is fighting a nuclear power.
