I would describe this editorial as the FT's shameful whitewashing of the active collaboration of the "West" in Israel's genocide in Gaza. All this editorial mentions is that,
the US and European countries that tout Israel as an ally that shares their
values have issued barely a word of condemnation. They should be ashamed of
their silence, and stop enabling Netanyahu to act with impunity.
But the USG and to a notable extent the UK are active participants in Israel's acts of annihilation in Gaza (and elsewhere), via near-continuous arms shipments from the US and continuing and operationally vital intel sharing with the Israeli military.
So what the world needs is not just a "word of condemnation" from these Western countries but a speedy and complete end to this collaboration.
Toward the end of this editorial, the FT people try to "blame" the Gulf states for not "standing up" to Trump re Gaza:
Gulf states agree that [Hamas's] continued stranglehold on Gaza is a factor prolonging the war. But
they must stand up to Trump and convince him to pressure Netanyahu to end the
killing, lift the siege and return to talks.
I am not an apologist for the complicity of the Gulf states in many aspects of the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza. But the idea that a respected UK publication can offload responsibility for reining in Netanyahu to the Gulf state leaders rather than actively calling on their own, often very well-placed readers in the UK, the US, and other Western nations to do this is entirely risible.
(Not that the present situation affords any opportunity for laughter.)
