Article published in the Atlantic Monthly in 1966, which really shows how things have changed since then.

For several years now, a line has been peddled in the West that the Russian establishment "was never really worried about NATO enlargement", and that "Russia's actions in Ukraine could not have been foreseen".

Oh yes they were. In this article, amidst a host of others from much greater figures including George Kennan and Jack Matlock.
