Former Veterans For Peace director Mike Ferner spoke to Ralph Nader on the Ralph Nader Radio Hour from a hospital bed where he is halfway through a forty day Fast For Gaza,
which consists of 250 calories a day, the average caloric intake for
the residents of Gaza. “Two hundred and fifty calories is technically,
officially, a starvation diet,” said Ferner, “And we're doing it for 40
days. The people in Gaza have been doing it for months and months and
months, and they're dying like crazy. That's the whole concern that
we're trying to raise.”
As the Israeli government, aided and abetted by U.S. tax dollars,
continues its ethnic cleansing operation in Gaza, now turning back aid
flotillas approaching from the sea and killing Gazans approaching aid
stations on the ground, veterans like Ferner, who know first-hand the
true horrors of war, are trying to prick the conscience of a nation.
“And I'll tell you,” continued Ferner, “at the end of this fast, on the
40th day, we are not just going out silently. There are going to be some
fireworks before we're done with this thing. So all I'm saying is stay
tuned.”
