The recent attack on Iran by U.S. Air Force B2 bombers carrying the world’s biggest bomb short of nukes was announced to the public by President Trump as a great accomplishment that could only be achieved by the U.S. Air Force’s B2 bombers. Of course their way was paved by several days of attacks by the Israeli air force and Israeli assassination teams which took out much of Iran’s anti-aircraft defense and many key Iranian leaders. Never mind that Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty which enables it to carry on nuclear research as long as it is not for weapons development purposes. The U.S. is also a member but guess who is not. Right. Israel, which long ago developed nukes with U.S. assistance and which keeps a strong nuclear arsenal up to date. Never mind also that Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence under Trump, told him that Iran was not within reach of a nuclear weapon anytime soon if ever. Bibi, shorthand for Benjamin Netanyahu, contradicted that and told Trump that Iran could have nuclear bombs within weeks if not days. Why Trump chose to believe Bibi instead of his own hand picked officials is not clear but what is clear is that Bibi is using Trump and America to further his and Israel’s hegemony of the entire middle east. The whole adventure raises profound questions about Trump’s leadership. Two weeks ago he was saying that we should engage in diplomacy with Iran and aim for a modus vivendi. Now he is talking as if Armageddon is at hand. But it really doesn’t matter what Trump says. Let’s assign Netanyahu some space in the White House and invite him to run the world from a major city that befits his talents rather than from a relative backwater like Jerusalem.
