Protests erupted across New Zealand, Europe, Morocco, and Libya, as tens of thousands demanded an end to Israel’s war on Gaza, sanctions against Tel Aviv, and support for the flotilla challenging the blockade.
Thousands of people rallied in Auckland, New Zealand, on Saturday, demanding an end to what they described as Israel’s genocidal war and starvation campaign against Gaza, Al-Jazeera reported.
Protesters waved Palestinian flags and carried banners denouncing the killing of civilians, while also urging their government to impose sanctions on Israel.
Fresh demonstrations are expected today across several European countries, calling for an end to the war and relief for Palestinians under siege.
In Berlin, around 15,000 people have registered to take part in a central rally under the slogan “Stop the Genocide in Gaza.”
According to Al-Jazeera, Sarah Wagenknecht, a member of parliament and co-organizer of the protest, confirmed that Roger Waters, the Pink Floyd co-founder and prominent BDS supporter, will address the gathering.
She dismissed accusations of antisemitism against Waters, stressing that criticism of the Israeli government must not be equated with anti-Semitism.
Germany and other European states have seen weekly protests against the war, with participation growing in recent weeks despite restrictions, particularly in Germany and the UK.
In the Arab world, demonstrations were held on Friday in several Moroccan cities condemning Israeli aggression on both Doha and Gaza.
Protesters gathered in front of Parliament in Rabat, demanding accountability for Israeli leaders and expressing support for Palestinians.
The Moroccan Committee for Supporting the Nation’s Causes said that during the 93rd week of mobilization, 105 demonstrations were organized across 56 cities in solidarity with Gaza, with participants also voicing support for the international Steadfastness Flotilla aiming to break the blockade.
In Libya, crowds marched after Friday prayers in Tajoura, east of Tripoli, backing the flotilla expected to depart from Bizerte, Tunisia, toward Gaza.
Demonstrators denounced Israel’s ongoing war, expressed support for the Palestinian resistance, and demanded the lifting of the siege, the entry of humanitarian aid, and protection against forced displacement.
