Deadly US-Israeli GHF aid scheme announces complete shutdown in Gaza

The US mercenary group that turned GHF sites into death traps for over 2,600 Palestinians is now set to assume an even larger role in Gaza’s post-war future

The notorious Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) – a US-Israeli-backed private aid group created to bypass the UN and responsible for the deaths of thousands of Palestinian aid-seekers – announced on 24 November that it was permanently shutting down, claiming its mission had been accomplished six weeks after its distribution sites were dismantled under a US-brokered ceasefire.

GHF director John Acree said, “We have succeeded in our mission of showing there’s a better way to deliver aid to Gazans.”

The group claimed that it would transfer its model to the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) overseeing the Gaza ceasefire.

During its short existence, the GHF refused to disclose its funding sources, kept its contractor structure opaque, and operated under the protection of Israeli troops.

It presented itself as an alternative to UN distribution, insisting that there was “no violence in the aid sites themselves,” while acknowledging that Palestinians faced danger reaching the locations on foot.

The GHF’s shutdown follows one of the deadliest aid operations ever recorded in Gaza.

Between May and October 2025, over 2,600 Palestinians were killed and around 19,000 wounded while attempting to reach GHF aid distribution sites, according to a report by Drop Site News.

Witnesses, aid workers, and health personnel confirmed that Israeli soldiers securing the areas “often opened fire” on crowds gathering for food.

Testimonies described these zones as systematically lethal.

Haaretz accounts called the distribution areas “killing fields,” where Israeli commanders ordered tank shells, mortars, and machine guns to be used against unarmed Palestinians seeking food.

Commanders, according to these testimonies, enforced rules that treated civilians as hostile targets and prevented aid trucks from entering.

UG Solutions, the US military subcontractor hired to guard GHF sites, became synonymous with violence during its time in Gaza.

Video evidence and soldiers' testimony reported that American security guards fired live ammunition, stun grenades, and other weapons at Palestinians “even if there was no threat.”

One guard resigned in July after witnessing what he described as war crimes and crimes against humanity, calling the aid sites “death traps.”

Multiple outlets later revealed that UG Solutions had deployed members of a US biker gang known for anti-Muslim hate speech.

UG Solutions is now preparing for a broader Gaza deployment as the company has ramped up recruitment for 12 to 15 new distribution sites expected to open next month.

The company confirmed it is planning for “a wide range of potential scenarios,” including advisory functions or “robust security” positions tied to the newly authorized International Stabilization Force (ISF).

That force will operate under a “Board of Peace” led by US President Donald Trump, which holds sweeping authority over Gaza’s reconstruction, security administration, economic policy, and aid distribution.

Despite the ceasefire, Gaza officials and UN agencies say Israel continues to block life-saving supplies, with only 4,453 of the 15,600 trucks required under the ceasefire agreement entering the enclave, amounting to a mere 28 percent of the minimum needed.
