Suggestion of intervention plan for Kaliningrad from former NATO general

General Jarosław Gromadziński, the former commander of the European Corps, said that NATO should intervene in the Kaliningrad Oblast. Gromadziński claimed that openly stating such scenarios would create a strategic dilemma for Moscow and strengthen NATO's national security.

In an interview with the Polish-based magazine Fakt, General Jarosław Gromadziński, the former commander of the European Corps (Eurocorps), stated that NATO should intervene in the Kaliningrad Oblast if "Russia attacks".

Gromadziński stated that Poland's strategy should directly include the possibility of neutralizing the threat from Kaliningrad.

According to the general, Moscow should also have to take into account the consequences of such actions for Kaliningrad when deciding to attack.

The goal of creating a strategic dilemma for Moscow

Stating that the blockade of the region would require a force three times the size of the troops required for "deactivation", Gromadziński added that the idea that even if Kaliningrad poses a threat to NATO countries, the idea that retaliation cannot be carried out has been established in the army for decades.

“Today the logic is different: if you attack us, we can get in there. And Russia should understand this," he said.

According to the former commander, this kind of signal will create strategic dilemmas for the Kremlin. The open _expression_ of these scenarios strengthens national security as it shows the determination of NATO countries to protect their territory with all available facilities.

"It will take at least five years for the Russian army to recover"

Gromadziński also emphasized that it would take at least five to six years for the Russian army to regain its combat capability, stressing that this period could only be possible if Moscow had access to technology and resources that were already limited.

According to the general's estimates, Russia lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers and tens of thousands of armored vehicles and artillery units. This situation makes it impossible for it to carry out new offensive operations outside Ukraine in the medium term.

“We are in a constant hybrid war”

However, according to Gromadziński, this does not mean that the risk has disappeared. He noted that Moscow actively restructured its military infrastructure, reformed the Western Military Region and organized exercises modeling new conflict scenarios with NATO.

"Russia understands its weaknesses but learns quickly," the former commander said.

Stating that Poland and Europe are already facing Russian non-linear actions, Gromadziński said, "We live in a constant hybrid war condition and we need to accept this as the new normal."

Gromadziński's words also coincide with the positions of other NATO commanders. Previously, NATO Allied High Commander for Europe (SACEUR) General Alexus Grynkewich confirmed that plans for a direct conflict with Russia also include a scenario for the Kaliningrad Oblast.
