Transmitted below, resolutely and appropriately anchored to
the far right of my computer screen, is the well-worth-reading
virtual declaration of war which was posted by President Trump
at 12:46 AM yesterday, presumably after his handlers (if any)
had already gone to bed.
Given the size of Trump's ego, it is difficult to imagine,
post-post, that he will not follow up on his declared naval
blockade, which is traditionally deemed to constitute an act
of war, with a "full-scale" special military operation against
Venezuela.
NOTE: I have long been puzzled by the apparently
mandatory media characterization of Russia's invasion of
Ukraine as "full-scale". In the early days, it was virtually
mandatory to describe the invasion as "unprovoked" and
"illegal". After "unprovoked" was widely recognized to be
absurd, that characterization was relatively rapidly
abandoned. The invasion was and continues to be illegal.
Perhaps that characterization has been abandoned because so
many Western military interventions in recent decades have
also been illegal. Since virtually all ground combat since the
opening weeks of the invasion has taken place in the four
eastern oblasts formally annexed by Russia in September 2022,
what is the intended meaning (if any) of the characterization
"full-scale"?
