[Salon] Greta Thunberg arrested in London over 'Palestine Action prisoners' placard

FM: John Whitbeck

Transmitted below is a link to the GUARDIAN's report on today's arrest of Greta Thunberg for sitting on the ground in London while holding a placard reading "I SUPPORT PALESTINE ACTION PRISONERS - I OPPOSE GENOCIDE".

The prisoners to whom she refers are been on a hunger strike for 52 days, a hunger strike which, as explained in a recent article by my distinguished recipient Jonathan Cook (https://jonathancook.substack.com/p/how-reporting-facts-can-now-land), few media have dared to mention, because, under British "terrorism" legislation, objective and truthful reporting which could be construed as encouraging support for people or groups which the UK government dislikes and has therefore labeled "terrorist" can itself be deemed, like Greta's peacefully and silently expressing her opinion, a criminal offense.

Western propaganda about as existential contest between democratic and authoritarian governments is ringing increasingly hollow as self-proclaimed democratic governments become increasingly totalitarian in their repression of freedom of thought and speech and the right to dissent -- for now principally regarding support for Palestinian rights and opposition to apartheid and genocide but potentially to other freedoms and rights in the years to come.
