All -- Trump made a big noise about forcing the Europeans to take responsibility for arming Ukraine, creating the PURL program this summer and pushing all the NATO members to pony up billions to buy weapons from us. But as Jen Kavanagh points out here, that program is allowing Europeans to jump the line and they are taking weapons like Patriot missiles from our already depleted stockpiles and are first in the queue for anything coming out of contractor assembly lines. That has left our cupboards too bare to attack Iran (which is welcome, certainly) but it reflects a state of things in which we are allowing our own national defense to wither while we continue to arm a losing war.
