The Iranian military confirmed that its naval forces targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln with missiles, forcing it to withdraw from the area.
The Iranian military explained that "the operation involved launching powerful missiles from the coast into the sea, which led to the aircraft carrier's withdrawal," noting that the operation was in response to American crimes and coincided with the farewell ceremony for the martyrs of the frigate USS Dena.
As part of its response to American-Israeli aggression, Iran continues to target American aircraft carriers, including the USS Abraham Lincoln, which it has targeted several times. The response also includes targeting all American military bases in the region and deep within the occupied territories.
On March 13, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps announced that the USS Abraham Lincoln suffered significant damage after being targeted in an attack involving missiles and drones. According to Iran, the aircraft carrier withdrew toward the United States following that strike.
The statement came as Iran continued operations against US military assets and bases across the region in response to the ongoing US-Israeli aggression against the country.
Iran has continued launching missile and drone attacks against US bases in the region, naval assets, and Israeli military sites in occupied Palestine, as part of its response to the ongoing war.
The public relations office of the IRGC announced on Thursday that its naval forces carried out missile and drone strikes at dawn targeting the headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet in Mina Salman.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted in two waves, employing a combination of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The strikes targeted multiple installations inside the base, including the LIDS counter-drone defense system, as well as maintenance and storage facilities used for remotely operated boats.
Additional targets included support equipment facilities, fuel storage tanks, and assembly areas used by US troops inside the base.
The IRGC said the targets were struck with high precision, using loitering one-way drones, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles.
