[Salon] Interview of José Bustani by Aaron Maté (VIDEO)

FM: John Whitbeck

Having enjoyed a luncheon today with my highly distinguished distinguished recipient José Bustani (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/José_Bustani), the first Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, I am transmitting below a link to a 2020 interview of Ambassador Bustani by Aaron Maté which dramatically demonstrates
the extents to which U.S. governments have gone to prevent or punish anyone threatening to expose their cynically selected excuses for attacking countries that Israel perceives as its enemies -- in his case, Iraq and Syria.

The interview is lengthy, but those who take the time to watch it should find it both fascinating and illuminating.

While of obvious historical interest, this interview is also relevant to today's efforts by the current U.S. government, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary (including the unanimous assessment of all American intelligence agencies that Iran has not had an active military-nuclear program since 2003, when the United States eliminated the alleged and, in fact, non-existent "Iraqi nuclear threat"), to sustain its primary excuse for attacking Iran, "the only regional state still standing which might threaten an effective response and resistance to the long sought and increasingly open objective of the Zionist project in Palestine -- a Palestine without Palestinians" (https://www.counterpunch.org/2025/07/01/the-excuse-of-the-iranian-nuclear-threat).
