Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has signaled a potential conditional halt to Iranian military operations, saying Tehran would stop its actions if attacks against the country were halted.

“If attacks against Iran are halted, our powerful armed forces will cease their defensive operations,” Araghchi said in a post on the US social media company X's platform on Wednesday, describing the move as part of mediation efforts and ongoing diplomatic contacts toward de-escalation.

He also said that for a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be possible through coordination with Iran’s armed forces, taking into account technical limitations.

His remarks came as Iran has put forward a 10-point proposal for ending the war, which, according to state media IRIB, includes guarantees of non-aggression against Iran; continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz; recognition of Tehran’s right to uranium enrichment; lifting of US primary and secondary sanctions; termination of UN Security Council and International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors resolutions against Iran; payment of compensation; withdrawal of US combat forces from the region; and an end to hostilities across all fronts.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said in a statement released early on Wednesday that the proposal would serve as the framework for negotiations, though it did not publicly detail all elements.

US President Donald Trump said earlier that Washington would suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, describing Tehran’s proposal as a “workable basis” for negotiations.
