Iranian ships continue Strait of Hormuz transit despite US threats

Several Iranian vessels have reportedly passed through the Strait of Hormuz and into surrounding waters despite US threats to impose a naval blockade, Tasnim News Agency reported.

In detail, an Iranian ship named "Golbon", which is subject to US Treasury sanctions, transited the Strait of Hormuz and continued its voyage near the entrance to the Gulf of Oman. The report said the vessel’s movement occurred despite the US threats to impose a naval blockade.

Tasnim also said the cargo ship "Sea Champion" successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Sea of Oman. It added that multiple Iranian vessels have recently passed through the strategic waterway, citing independent ship-tracking data.

Container ship breaks US 'blockade zone'

Separately, the Fars News Agency reported that a container ship had recently broken a US “blockade zone” and entered international waters after transiting the Gulf. The report said satellite tracking data showed the vessel operating with its navigation system active and currently sailing near the Pakistani coastline.

Fars further reported that earlier in the day, an Iranian very large crude carrier (VLCC), listed under US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions, entered Iranian waters after passing through the Strait of Hormuz. It also said a bulk carrier carrying food supplies later docked at Imam Khomeini Port after crossing the Gulf.

Iranian oil tanker crosses Strait of Hormuz despite US blockade threat

Earlier today, an Iranian oil tanker has successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz, despite US threats to impose a naval blockade, according to Tasnim News Agency.

The tanker, identified as “Alicia” and reportedly under US sanctions, passed through the strategic waterway between Hormuz and Larak islands without encountering any significant obstacles, the agency said.

Tasnim added that the vessel is the third Iranian tanker to successfully cross the Strait of Hormuz under the US-announced blockade, signaling continued maritime activity despite escalating tensions.

Iranian control over Hormuz reaffirmed

Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy stated they had imposed “intelligent and authoritative control” over the Strait, emphasizing that navigation through the vital corridor remains subject to Iranian monitoring and regulations.

Tehran continues to assert full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, framing control over the passage as essential to safeguarding national rights and advancing claims related to war reparations.

The developments come days after US President Donald Trump announced a naval blockade targeting vessels entering or exiting Iranian ports, as well as vessels crossing the Strait under Iranian supervision, following stalled negotiations in Islamabad.

The proposed blockade has drawn widespread criticism in Europe and Asia, with officials warning against escalation and stressing the importance of maintaining open maritime routes and avoiding further conflict in the region.

The successful passage of Iranian tankers through the Strait of Hormuz underscores the challenges facing Washington’s efforts to enforce maritime restrictions, as tensions continue to rise in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
