Israeli media: US weighs permanent military presence in 'Israel'

US officials are studying the possibility of establishing a long-term or permanent military presence in "Israel" following extensive military coordination during the aggression against Iran, as per Israeli media reports.

Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that security and military officials in the Israeli occupation are awaiting a US decision on either relocating forces from other regional bases to "Israel" or maintaining a significant American military presence there for the foreseeable future.

Israel Hayom's military correspondent said the discussions stem from what officials described as unprecedented operational coordination during the operation dubbed “Lion's Roar,” referring to the recent Israeli aggression against Iran.

According to security sources cited by the newspaper, the US increasingly views "Israel" as a “strategic American fortress” capable of operating without the restrictions imposed by other regional states on US military activity.

Deepening military coordination

The report stated that US military personnel operated from inside the occupation’s fortified command center, the Supreme Command Post, known as “the Pit,” where they reportedly gained direct insight into the capabilities and vulnerabilities of the Israeli occupation forces, particularly within the Air Force.

Israeli officials also reportedly assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the US military during the joint operations.

A senior source quoted by Israel Hayom said current US forces stationed in "Israel" “will not move in the near or distant future,” adding that Washington considers the territory an ideal operational hub due to its advanced air defense systems, relative distance from major regional threats, and lack of restrictions on offensive military activity.

The newspaper also reported that the commander of the US Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT), during a meeting with outgoing Israeli Air Force commander Tomer Bar, described the current level of military coordination as the “absolute baseline,” indicating there are no plans to scale back integration between the two sides.

New regional military strategy

According to assessments within the Israeli occupation’s security establishment, Washington is currently drafting new policy documents in the region that include recommendations to preserve a fixed military presence in the region.

An unnamed security source told the newspaper it remains unclear whether the proposed deployment would involve missile defense batteries, fighter squadrons, or other military assets, but added that “it is not impossible that the next US base in the region will be in Israel.”

Despite reported political disagreements between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump over Lebanon and Iran policy, security officials told the newspaper that military coordination between Washington and the Israeli occupation remains fully intact.

Officials reportedly described the relationship as having entered a stage of “no surprises” between the two sides.
