Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekai said that the Tehran administration did not demand concessions from Washington, and that Iran's demands were "legitimate".
Bekai stated that Iran's priority is to end the fighting and stop the "sea piracy" against Iranian ships.
According to the IRNA, Bekai said at a press conference, "We did not demand any concessions from the United States; on the contrary, we called for an end to the war and an end to the piracy at sea against Iranian ships."
Bekai said the American side continues to insist on "unilateral approaches and unfounded demands". The Iranian spokesperson stated that these demands are largely based on the evaluations created by the Israeli administration.
Bekai said, "Is our request for safe passage from the Strait of Hormuz an excessive demand? Is an important issue such as the establishment of security and peace in the whole region, especially in Lebanon, an irresponsible demand?” she said.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that Tehran's focus is on "urgent issues". Bekai stated that these titles include ending the war in all forms, stopping the conflicts in Lebanon and securing sea transportation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
Bekai also stated that the issue of ending the "illegal activities and sea piracy" of the USA against commercial ships is also on the agenda.
The Iranian spokesman said that decisions on nuclear file and uranium enrichment activities will be discussed later. Bekai said, "It is an issue that we will discuss when the time comes which decisions will be made and which options will be evaluated."
Iran sent a 14-point peace plan to the USA at the beginning of May. The Tehran administration raised demands for ending the fighting, guaranteeing non-aggression, lifting of the naval blockade, lifting the blockade on Iranian assets and the withdrawal of American soldiers from the surrounding areas.
According to Tasnim, the Iranian side proposed that the main contenties be resolved within 30 days. This proposal was submitted instead of the two-month ceasefire proposal expressed by the US side. The Iranian administration also emphasized "ending the war" instead of "extending the ceasefire".
The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, wrote in its sources that Iran's initiative suggested to stop the clashes and gradually restart commercial maritime transportation through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the newspaper, it was predicted that the USA would lift the restrictions on Iranian ports and Iranian ships in the same process.
According to the WSJ, the main dispute between the parties continues over the nuclear program. The Washington administration demands that Iran clarify in advance its obligations regarding its nuclear infrastructure and highly enriched uranium stocks. Tehran, on the other hand, proposes that these topics be discussed in a separate negotiation process and within a 30-day calendar.
US President Donald Trump described Iran's proposals as unacceptable. The Tehran administration, on the other hand, announced that the reaction of the "so-called US president" to Iran's peace proposal "has no meaning" for them.
According to the news of the WSJ, there is a possibility that Iran and the USA will start negotiations again in Islamabad this week. Axios wrote that the parties were close to the agreement.
Trump also recently described the talks between the US and Iran as "very good". Trump said that Tehran agreed to give up nuclear weapons and said, "It is entirely possible for us to reach an agreement."
The ceasefire, which was signed at the beginning of April and extended indefinitely by the US President, is currently in effect between the parties. Despite this, the parties carried out mutual attacks last week.
