[Salon] Chapter on the Israeli-US relationship

Section 224 of the new Defense Authorization Act is now before the US Congress. In an article for The Guardian, my colleague Eli Clifton of the Quincy Institute and Ian Lustick of the University of Pennsylvania have shown how:

Israel and its lobby will use section 224 of the National Defense Authorization Act to bind the US to a state that has gone rogue.

Their new book, Israel's Lobby: America in the Grip of a Foreign Power, will be published in August by Simon and Schuster:

In their support, this seemed to me a good moment to circulate the chapter on the Israeli-US relationship from my book of 2004, America Right or Wrong: An Anatomy of American Nationalism (updated second edition 2012). It is attached.

I haven't got everything right over the intervening 22 years, but I got this right.
