[Salon] Hardline Iran critics of the emerging deal speaking out.

See below the scathing critique of the emerging Iran-US deal by Professor Foad Izadi, professor of international relations at Tehran University. He’s not the only prominent Iranian to issue a criticism. Iranian MP Seyyed Mahmoud Nabavian of the hardline Paydari Front already has done so.

“Details of the 14-article draft memorandum of understanding between Iran and America, meaning

1- Opening the #StraitofHormuz in the first step. That is, resolving Trump's economic and political problems. Countries usually do not hand over their most important lever of power to the opposing side in the first step.

2- After the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the reduction in oil prices:

America's oil reserves will be replenished again.

And in the opportunity created, the military systems of America and Israel will be repaired and rebuilt.

3- This means repeating the cycle of attack, ceasefire, negotiation, attack. The enmity of those who martyred the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution against Iran has not diminished. Finding an excuse to withdraw from the memorandum of understanding will not be difficult for Trump. Trump should not be able to claim that the cost of a second military attack on Iran was tolerable. America and Israel will use this breathing opportunity to prepare for the next attacks. Planning for a second coup is also on the agenda.

4- The main sanctions against Iran are the congressional sanctions, not the executive branch sanctions. In this way, Trump will renege with the excuse that he cannot force Congress to lift the sanctions.

5- Since 2015, any agreement with Iran under the INARA law requires Congress's affirmative vote. Given the influence of the Israeli lobby, Congress will not vote yes to lifting sanctions against Iran. Netanyahu's influence among Democratic and Republican representatives is greater than Trump's.

Solution:

1- Please do not sign this memorandum of understanding.

2- Please publish a list of Iran's targeted desalination facilities and oil facilities in the region. In the event of another attack on Iran, these facilities must be destroyed in such a way that their reconstruction takes at least two years.

Limited destruction does not create the necessary deterrence. Trump views the limited destruction of these facilities as a reconstruction project for American companies. But extensive destruction will keep global oil and gas prices high for at least two years and create the necessary deterrence. Alternative routes to the Strait of Hormuz must be Iran's top priorities.

3- Please do not open the Strait of Hormuz for at least another two months. In the past three months, Iran has sold more than $30 billion worth of oil; this amount is sufficient for managing the economy for the next two months.

4- Please do not forget to collect tolls from the Strait of Hormuz. Based on international estimates, the tolls from the Strait of Hormuz can be more than twice the oil sales. Part of the solution to the country's economic problems lies here, not in the delusion of lifting sanctions.”
