The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and Head of the Negotiating Committee Mohammed Bakır Galibaf said in his statement today that the talks with the United States (USA) will continue to be conditioned with the "red lines" set by Tehran.
"As we have shown in the previous negotiation process, we are determined to adhere to the established conditions and red lines and to secure the interests of the Iranian people," Galibaf said in a statement quoted by the Iranian official news agency IRNA.
Warning that the enemy elements should not make any mistake, chief negotiator Galibaf said, "If the enemy tries to cross the borders, we have proven our fingers on the alert and we will not hesitate to strike him with the lethal blow."
“The first attacker is buried in darkness”
These statements are a continuation of the statements Galibaf made two days ago, which the Americans stated that they were looking for a ceasefire.
Pointing out that Iran's power in his previous statements forced European countries to negotiate with Tehran on the lifting of sanctions, Galibaf warned the following against the possibility of non-compliance with the articles of the agreement:
“In any case that the enemy does not comply with his commitments, our policy will be 'the first attacker is buried in darkness'; but if they stick to their commitments, we will stick too.”
Touching on Iran's preparedness on the field, Galibaf said, "If the enemy wants to betray, we are the men of the square. In my eyes, the distance between diplomatic struggle and military struggle is not far; our hands are on the alert and we explain the logic to understanding by using force," he said.
The delegations of Tehran and Washington were scheduled to meet today in Geneva, Switzerland, under the presence of Pakistan, to start a 60-day negotiation process that would address the nuclear issue and reach a final agreement.
The first article of the memorandum of understanding, signed by the heads of state of the two countries on Thursday morning, provides for the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon.
