Iran will not let US dictate timing of war and peace: Baghaei

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson and negotiating delegation member, Esmaeil Baghaei, said on Monday that Tehran will not allow Washington to determine the timing of war and peace, stressing that Iran's decisions are based on its national interests and made through a transparent process.

Regarding the memorandum of understanding with Washington, Baghaei said the United States had violated the agreement and the entire framework covered by the memorandum. He added that Iran, in response to the US violations, had suspended its own commitments under the agreement.

Baghaei held the United States primarily responsible for the aggression against Iran, while stressing that the involvement of some regional countries could not be ignored. He said Tehran expects countries in the region to stop cooperating with Washington.

He also stated that a recent statement issued by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Gulf Cooperation Council was a "destructive statement", stressing that everyone knows Iran will not negotiate over its defensive capabilities.

Regarding international and diplomatic developments, Baghaei said Tehran has evidence of the involvement of the new UK government in the aggression against Iran, despite expectations that it would pursue a different approach from its predecessor. He called on UK officials to acknowledge that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is the result of US actions.

Baghaei also criticized the actions of French diplomats in Iran, saying they could not be justified and constituted interference in the country's internal affairs.

Iran, Oman hold talks on Strait of Hormuz

On navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei said positive talks had been held with Oman over the past two days on managing transit through the waterway while taking into account the sovereignty and interests of both countries.

He stressed that the United States had no role in the Iranian-Omani dialogue.

On the nuclear and technological file, Baghaei said the Israeli regime opposes any technological development by countries in the region. He reiterated that Iran would not abandon its right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iran warns Zelensky, European allies

On regional security, Baghaei announced a decision to strengthen cooperation and communications with Iraqi Kurdistan to confront armed groups. He also criticized Bulgaria's decision to allow US aircraft to use Sofia Airport to launch attacks against Iran, saying the move violated international law and represented a dangerous decision.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the European countries supporting him over an attack targeting an Iranian vessel. Baghaei warned that the consequences of the attack would be unpredictable for those involved and said the repercussions of Zelensky's actions would affect several countries around the world.

The statements come amid renewed US aggression against Iran, which has prompted Iranian retaliatory operations targeting several US bases in the Gulf, Syria, and Jordan.
