The IRGC has accused the United States of a long-standing “dark record” of attacks on wedding gatherings, demanding that US leaders answer to the international public for repeated aggression against civilians, IRIB reported.
In a statement, the IRGC said the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) had turned a family engagement celebration into mourning by carrying out a direct airstrike on a wedding gathering held by a family from Kuhestak in Sirik County. It said nearly 70 people were targeted, with four killed and seven of those wounded reportedly in critical condition.
The IRGC stated on Tuesday that, following reactions from the public, international media, prominent figures, and some US media outlets, US military and government officials have sought to deny that the aggression was deliberate and repeated their claim that civilians were not targeted.
The statement listed the US military’s repeated record of attacks on weddings, from Yemen and Iraq to Afghanistan and Iran, citing the following incidents as evidence of a broader pattern:
The IRGC said US leaders have “once again resorted to lies instead of apologizing” and accused them of evading accountability, comparing the conduct with crimes in Minab, Lamerd, and Qeshm.
The statement asked whether all of the listed incidents had been accidental and the result of mistakes, saying US leaders should answer the international public over a “dark record” of attacks on weddings in different countries.
Furthermore, it also said the IRGC possessed military power and had carried out retribution by killing “the bloodthirsty terrorists of CENTCOM.”
The statement warned that if the American people failed to stop the “brutal, child-killing military,” they should fear the day when the oppressed take revenge, quoting the saying that “the day of the oppressed against the oppressor is harsher than the day of the oppressor against the oppressed.”
The IRGC’s remarks on Wednesday came a day after its initial statement on Tuesday, as the fallout from the reported strike and Iran’s subsequent retaliation continued to draw attention.
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said a US attack on a residential house in Sirik, southern Iran, killed and wounded around 50 people, including a child, during a wedding ceremony.
In a statement on Wednesday, the IRGC Public Relations Department said the house had been hosting the marriage ceremony of a young couple when it was targeted in a brutal attack. It said the casualties revived memories of the brutality of Minab School and Lamerd Stadium.
The IRGC said several people were killed in the attack, including a child, and accused the US military of demonstrating what it described as deep hostility toward the Iranian people.
The IRGC said its Aerospace Force launched on Wednesday a heavy ballistic missile attack against a US Marine Corps barracks in Jordan in response to the aggression on Sirik.
According to the statement, the attack was carried out during the second wave of an operation named “Punishment of the Aggressor,” under the religious code “Ya Rasul Allah (PBUH).” The IRGC identified the targeted facility as Camp Titin, located on the shores of the Gulf of Aqaba.
The IRGC said the missile strikes killed a large number of US forces and destroyed several important facilities and attack helicopters at the base.
The latest attacks form part of an expanding US war on Iran, with Washington striking targets inside the Islamic Republic while simultaneously threatening further escalation.
US aggression has included attacks on Iranian territory and targets in strategic areas along the country’s southern coast, bringing the confrontation increasingly close to the Strait of Hormuz.
The escalation has also placed growing pressure on US military assets and defensive capabilities. Iran’s sustained use of missiles and drones has forced US forces to expend costly air-defense interceptors while attempting to counter Iranian attacks, creating additional strain on US weapons stocks.
