If you don’t want to be bombed by America, it’s a good idea to have access to WMD.
This apparently cynical advice was recently given unimpeachable integrity by President Donald Trump as he admitted that, if Iran really had had a nuclear weapon, the USA and Israel would not have used the country as a piñata for thousands of bombs and missiles.
Here’s the money quote from Trump:
President Trump said at the Republican National Midterm Convention in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday night that if Iran had a nuclear weapon, he would have politely called up the Supreme Leader instead of “bombing the crap” out of the country.
“If they had a nuclear weapon, I’d be calling the Supreme Leader, and I’d be saying, ‘Mr. Supreme Leader, how are you, sir? Is there anything we can do for you?’ as opposed to bombing the crap out of him.” Trump said, evoking cheers from the crowd.

The cheers and flag-waving that accompanied Trump’s boast about bombing the crap out of Iran truly made me proud to be an American.
Recall what happened to Muamarr Gaddafi of Libya when he gave up his WMD arsenal.
Trump treats North Korea with a measure of respect precisely because it’s a nuclear-armed country.
Is there a more incendiary way to encourage WMD proliferation than what Trump has said here?
