Key findings include:
- Thriving among adults aged 18 to 29 fell to 44% through the third quarter of 2026, marking a 20-point decline over 16 years.
- In 2020, women’s thriving declined at three times the rate seen among men.
- Black, Hispanic, White and Asian American adults now report strikingly similar thriving rates of around 50%, a historically rare convergence.
- Communities around the nation are rallying to measure the wellbeing of residents and to implement programs meant to improve it.
- Change models show that with the right levers and sufficient commitment, communities can realistically expect to see substantive improvement in the wellbeing of residents over time, independent of short-term national or global shocks.
