Houthis claim responsibility for airport strike

Houthi forces have claimed responsibility for the attack on Riyadh’s airport on Sunday.

The Iranian-backed rebel group said in a Telegram post that it had launched four operations across Saudi Arabia, including on King Khalid international airport, the Aramco Shedgum gas station and Tanajib oil refinery and a fourth operation targeting King Fahd international airport in Dammam.

“We reiterate our warning to all international companies, experts, employees, workers and travellers from every country in the world against the dangers of flying to Saudi airports, as they are unsafe — with the exception of the airports and airspace of the holy sites,” the Iran-backed group said.

It claimed that Saudi Arabia launched 124 strikes targeting Sanaa, the Yemeni capital, as well as the governorates of Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, Al Hudaydah, and Saada.

Two blasts were alleged to have been heard in Riyadh on Sunday, more than an hour after the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis reported a fresh attack on the city's airport, according to AFP.
