Yemen’s Houthi group on Monday claimed to have targeted Saudi airports and Saudi Aramco facilities over the past 48 hours.

In a statement on Telegram, group spokesman Yahya Saree said the Houthis attacked the Saudi facilities using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones, claiming the strikes were in response to “Saudi aggression targeting our country.”

Saree also claimed the group struck the Shaybah oil field and King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh, as well as Abha International Airport.

Another attack targeted “Saudi enemy radars in Jabal al-Hisn and Jabal al-Rahmah, and Khamis Mushait Air Base in three phases,” Saree alleged.

There was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities on the Houthi claims.

The developments come amid escalating hostilities between the Houthis and forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government, backed by the Saudi-led coalition.

Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of northern Yemen.

The fighting has intensified since July and spilled into neighboring Saudi Arabia, with the Houthis repeatedly targeting the kingdom.
